Reichstag: do not give because of queues
The first time when I saw the queue´s in front of the Reichstag I was a bit shocked, but I can tell from own experience: go for it !
When the queue starts at the beginning of the step in front of the Reichstag, it take about 30min to get in.
Why?
Because of security. Groups of about 30 people are allowed to come in then they will be checked and go up to the top by an escalator. Then "the next 30" are requested to come in and that´s how it works.
And it is worth it. Specially when it is still warm outside it is great to be on the top of Reichstag and view over Berlin.- 0 people found this review helpful

Reichstag
Berlin has many things to see, but you can not come and leave Berlin without seeing te Reichstag, one of Germany's most important historic buildings.
The Reichstag was constructed from 1884 to 1894 following a dsign by architect Paul Wallmot as Germany was in need of a parliament building after the foundation of the German Empire in 1872. The insript "Dem Deutschen Volke" (To the German People) was added to the building in 1916.
In 1933 a fire destroyed most of the Reichstag and while is is not clear who started the fire, Communists were blamed and the fire gave a huge boost to Hitler's NSDAP party. The building was further damaged at the end of the second world war when the Sovied Red Army entered Berlin and raised the Soviet flag on top of the Reichstag.
During the cold war the Reichstag was located tight on the East-West divide with the Berlin Wall running only meters from the building.
After German re-unification and the decision to move the German capital from Bonn to Berlin British star architect Sir Norman Foster designed a glass dome for the new/old German parliament building. Tge glass rotunda sits over the plenary hall allowing citizens and visitors to see the parliament at work. A historic building, a a place where world history took place, brilliant architecture and a great view over the city. Thousands of visitors cause long lines so come early or late to avoid them.
